WEBSITE RUNNING COSTS
The cost of operating a website falls into
several different parts.
Existing and potential customers of our services need to appreciate
the various elements of the cost build up. To operate a website
you need to both purchase the domain and maintain that ownership.
In addition there are costs relating to access paths and actual
storage of the website.
DOMAIN NAME
The domain is first purchased from the appropriate government's
appointed supplier.
(Nominet in the UK for '.co.uk') and is priced at £85
for the first two years if we register for you.
This means we set it all up with a reliable and professional
ISP.
Annual renewal thereafter is £35 each year.
In the case of BigLoaf customers/users who are hosted in BigLoaf
directories without specific domain names this does not apply.
PROVISION of WEBSPACE
This is currently free for sites managed by us up to 100Mb.
The supply is subject to a bandwidth surcharge which is only
levied for very busy sites.
MANAGEMENT of DNS
The process used by browsers to find your website.
This is currently £16/month payable one year at a time
in ADVANCE.
WEBSITE DESIGN and UPGRADES
This is strictly a question of quotation/estimate for each
customer..
LINKS
We always link to customer sites and it is a condition of
use that we make a link back to the BigLoaf which helps everyone
with their search engine rating - you woill see a small button
like this in
one or more places on your site
